Citibank rant

Before I start, I just want to caveat that pretty much anywhere in the world consumer banking is not the best.  I reckon the people in the majority of countries in the world will have a story about receiving crappy customer service and/or having to deal with double speak-bureacracy from dealing with their bank or credit card company.

In my case the rant is about Citibank in Hong Kong.  I've got a credit card with them and "for my convince" I now receive e-statements rather than statements through the post (probably better really).  I had originally provided Citibank with an old email address, one that I hardly check.  I would like to change my email address that Citibank has with me.

Now seeing as Citibank is touting their oh so amazing online services, I would have thought that I could change my email address online through my e-account service.  They even imply so in the e-mail I receive when I get a statement: "Change Contact Details.  To update your email address and correspondence addresses, please visit: http://ift.tt/1j4PfaB".

Naturally, in anticipation, I go and visit Citibank's e-Contact page, hoping I can change my e-mail address.  However all the e-Contact page holds is a bunch of marketing talk for Citibank about all of its wonderful services, including "Personal Banking at your fingertips", including a box showing "Change of Contact Details".  However, all I am able to do from this page is log onto my e-account services.  From the e-account services the only way to change my personal information is to download a pdf and mail it in (faxes are not allowed).  Oh, should add there is a section in the e-Contact webpage which also lets you download this form.  Great online services Citibank.

Anyway rant over.  Back to work.
